Our Story: How We Began

DSC_0247-2.png

There are some businesses that you discover… and some that discover you.

In 2015 when a young woman in my church moved into my home for extra stability. She wanted to be the first in her family to pursue higher education. So we needed a way to fund her goals.

Because of our own experiences, we know what it’s like to be someone who want to make an impact. We know how it feels to be in search of a practical way to help women embrace their God-given dignity so they can pursue new dreams, like education and a new beginning. But so much need exists that making a positive impact seems impossible. How do you even begin? Who can you trust?

The Idea

We wanted to create a business worthy of the mission, something that would restore both my young friend and the people using the product. That's why I began handcrafting the same nourishing goat-milk artisan soaps that had healed my skin for years. Together we contributed to her college education through the business and equipped her with new skills and confidence.

This wasn’t charity or a hand-out. This was a way to help a young women pursue her dreams, gain a skill, and feel that sense of accomplishment that only a job well done can bring. In this way, I was not only able to help the customers learn the healing benefits of natural products. I was able to help a young women find that spark of momentum and belief in herself and her abilities to achieve anything she sets her mind to.

Reaching New Heights

Something I’ve learned along the way is that we need to feel worthy if we want to profoundly change our lives. I was able to experience, first hand, the impact that teaching a man to fish can really have on a person’s life. That experience opened my mind to receive the next mission I was called to do.

After seeing the incredible impact this business could have, I was given another opportunity to open my heart and mind to even more women who could benefit from the same sense of accomplishment the young grad had found. I met a woman who was in recovery from addiction and incarceration who needed the same feeling of hope and worthiness I was able to see our grad find.

With a home on hand and a business ready to serve, I was able to offer a sense of hope to more women and give them a chance to know just how worthy and capable they really are.

Present Day

Hope Soapery has supported the education of two young women, and now we partner with a transitional home which has enabled us to employ other women overcoming addiction and incarceration.

We are continue to develop our impact in the community and offer more incredible products that not only heal your skin, but heal the world around you.

When women lack hope, we are dedicated to equipping them with resources and healing through financial support, job training and community.
